What is this weed?

It is taking over my front flower beds--and it seems to spread several feet at night. I don't remember it being there before. It's a creeping thing and isn't too hard to pull up.... any thoughts? We've got it in the back yard, too. The late freezes last year and the year before must have also killed some weeds.... This year, they're flourishing.

  1. What kind of root does it have?

  2. I think my "weed" is really the geranium you mentioned or something else--but it's intentional and supposed to be there. I'm now remembering it was there a few years ago and flowered--but the frosts the past two springs must have killed it. But there is wild strawberry right next to it that is going CRAZY.

  3. Well, my "weed" is covered in beautiful flowers and is clearly a plant that should be in my front flower bed. The wild strawberry plants taking over the ground next to it...maybe not. I tell you, this weather is like steroids for weeds and garden pests.

  4. I know - this rain is just bringing everything up. Do you have pics of the flowers? Looks like an interesting plant.

We've got tons of wild strawberries here too - they seem to invade everything.
